Default 1968 Corvette updates and failures

About a month ago I traded in my classic Porsche 911 convertible for a 1968 Corvette with a crate motor small block 350. I liked the Porsche but it was expensive, had expensive problems that needed fixing and as it was a 1983 it needed to pass smog in CA which it did not do and would have been a challenge every two years. So, I let her go and moved into something American and that did not need a smog.

The car came with a bunch of new parts and while it was a running and driving car it still needed some updates. It was recently repainted and the paint is an 8/10 and looks good in the Torch Red. The interior was nice but the seats were not correct and the previous owner has tried to paint the interior black and I can see some places where the paint has scraped off. I will replace the interior with the correct parts. I put new door panels on from Al Knoch and have added 1970 black leather seats. I went with the 1970's because I liked the seatbelt pass through within the seat as opposed to eh bolt on for the side. This past weekend I added the Borgeson power steering, and JEGS power brake kit. Both are amazing. I rebuilt a brake caliper and added the R. Worley electric headlight kit because the vaccum system was leaking now she is running amazing.

The car still needs T-Tops repainted because the previous owner looks like they rattle canned them in a dark silver but I may just buy the glass tops. The carpeting is ok in the car but I plan on pulling it all out and redoing it when I replace the interior pieces. Someone at some point converted the car to a long hood although I have the correct hood and wiper cover for the car I just need them paint matched prior to install.

Nice car. I have had my 68 for 48 years. I see you have an extra hood. Are you going to bring it back to stock? Also, did the previous owner remove the reverse lights? We need some more pictures. Good luck with your new acquisition. Jerry

I do have the factory hood and wiper assembly and as soon as I get them painted I plan on putting them back on.

The previous owner also fiberglassed over the reverse lights on the rear. From underneath, the brackets are still there and the wiring but they are just glassed over. I recently bought a set and I plan on cutting into the rear to re-add the '68 reverse lights once I get up enough nerve to cut into my paint and body.

Just curious, what was the original color combination?

Very nice the long hood actually looks pretty good on there.
Enjoy her.

I can see how that looks like a lift but its actually the underside of the hood. If you look close you will see the hood is opened.

I shopped for a similar Pantera for a while... between the rust problems and the crazy prices, I opted for a 308.

The bumpers are powder coated. I plan on powder coating the rest of the chrome as well.
