Default Transmission Mount Doesn't Fit

Replacing the Transmission mount on my 72 350 4 speed. I bought one from Corvette Central and they shipped an Anchor 2378 mount. The problem is it is wider than the original in the car and is impossible to install because it is too wide to fit into the channel in the exhaust support bracket. I checked a few other places and they all sell the same thing. Has anyone else run into this? This one cannot be installed. pictures of new (on right) and old (on left) attached. Thanks

Maybe you have the wrong bracket since there is only one manual transmission mount and a different one for automatic.

That would be unusual since this is an original low mileage car that hasn’t been messed with. But I checked and there is a different exhaust cross bracket for automatics. I’m going to have to talk with the vendor tomorrow. I carefully competed the two mounts and the only difference is in the width.

Actually I checked late last night, and while there is a different automatic bracket it is very different, and I positively have the manual bracket. I also checked Anchor's website and they show the same part number for both the manual and automatic mount, but Corvette Central has two different part numbers. Advance auto has the same part number for both, while NAPA has different numbers (different manufacturer). I'm confused.

I would only look at Corvette vendors since that is what they deal with all day long.
Call Willcox Corvette they sell the parts and actually work on the cars.
How often do you think NAPA or Advance Auto sells a C3 transmission mount.

I bought it from Corvette Central. They are checking it out now. But I’ll be sending it back because in the meantime I found it on Zip Corvette, cross referenced with the OEM part number that was on my old one. I’m really surprised that Corvette Central would have it wrong.

You can check your cross member If I'm not mistaken one is bolted in and the other is welded in...I believe the automatic is bolted to allow better access for the tranny removal while the manual is welded in. this will tell if the car was messed with and changed out. Which are you looking for? I have a factory one for an automatic in the garage for 75
