76 rear window question

76 rear window question

Thanks for any help as always. The rear window has this black stuff that is broken up as you can see in the picture. Does the window seal that goes around it show on the outside or has someone used a weather strip material to try and seal it and if is a seal where is a good place to buy one.

The rear windows are glued in like the front windows they do not use a rubber seal. Looks like the sealant has just dried out over time which is normal for a car of that age. Mine did the same thing I installed a removable rear window like what is used from 68-72. Those years do use a preformed seal.

Mine is the same way. It hasn't leaked for 44 years. So, I'm not touching it until it leaks although I've never heard of a rear window leaking.

If I would have searched and not been lazy I would have found a ton of stuff.
