Key Buzzer Alarm
i know that there is a contact in the steering column. could that be causing the problem. Would that make it buzz constantly? Hate to take the steering column apart and replace the part if it is not a possible cause. Any ideas? 1975 with tilt/telescoping steering wheel.

If the 'tab' is stuck a little oil might help.
Or the 'switch' the tab hits may need adjustment or replacement.
See Jim Shea's paperwork if you go there http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/?cat=5
To silence it temporally disconnect the 'F' wire at the harmonica connection.
The Jim Shea papers give you a complete step by step written method of R&R.
Here is a "speeded up" column restoration video with the disassembly you probably need ending around the 2min 40sec mark with the lock removal and the tilt key warning buzzer. Once the key buzzer is removed, then you can start the assembly.
Assembly begins at the 13min mark with the suspect parts replacement at 13min 47sec and 14min 52sec

Get this before you start as it will probably fall apart when removed.

Here's the typical tool kit to use.

Hi Vinnie,
That constant buzzer was hard to figure out. The culprit is made of plastic with thin copper reeds. With the key in, it makes the reeds to touch and the buzzer to sound. The plastic breaks with age and the contacts touch with or without the key buzzing constant.
The other part that also falls apart with age is the C clip insulator to prevent the horn from random blowing.
I was all prepared to fix the buzzer problem and that C clip fell apart. I had to order one before I could do the job; so have it ahead.
The parts are the same from every dealer so price helps. Below is the links from Davies.
Same with the puller kit; get it from any source.
Read about not pulling the telescopic column out when the star bolt/screw is removed and the column is apart allowing the rod to fall out.
I just put a towel on my passenger seat for parts and tools and did the job. You should have no problem. Info is below.
Good luck, Lenny

read this: p.9 top paragraph. Make your own tool to remove the buzzer.

Thanks for the information, it is helpful and I believe that from what you are saying and what I have searched, it is the source of the problem. Thanks for the suggestion about the c clip.
If i can fix that, the only other issue i have is the seat belt system. It looks like all the connections are there, but seat belt warning light does not go on and i am not sure if the buckles con nections are working.
Thanks
Vinnie

The seat bottom switch is normally open (12 volts pass only when someone is in the seat).
