Please give me some guidance! I have a 76 I am working on that has some type of brake issue. When I hit the brakes no matter what speed it wants to turn to the left if I am going forward, and right if I am going backwards. When I hit the brakes leaving the driveway the left tire will lock up. After a 10-15 min drive, the cast wheels are hot to the touch. While holding the break you can hear a whine.
I’m trying to find a starting point to work on. I think it would be the caliper but I am unsure.

Hard pull to left usually means the right side is doing nothing.
I would suspect both front caliper hoses. One side is not allowing fluid though to apply brakes. One is not allowing fluid to return (lock-up).
They rot and collapse internally.

Holy cow..you are sitting still inpark and push brakes and the wheel moves like that?
strongly suggest inspection and or have someone take pics or vids while doing that...that is weird maybe something broke..suspension? A arm? Ball joint? Bearing?

That was just rolling back and forward in the driveway not sitting still, but close to it
Jack up the problem side and try to rotate the tire. Then remove the tire and inspect the pad to rotor gap. Or lack of.
Its very possible and very common to have a caliper that refuses to "let-go". The pistons can not return into their bores. But why?
Pump up the brakes. Loosen the bleeder screw. If fluid gushes out, the rubber brake line is the culprit. Replace.
If little fluid or no fluid comes out, its the caliper pistons. Buy rebuilt units.
Tip: soak the bleeder screw overnite with PB Blaster. Soak the caliper mount bolts too, just in case.
Use a brake bleeder wrench or six point socket on the bleeder. Go slow.
If you have to buy hoses, the front ones get a copper washer with it.
