I bought a brand new repro of the tire carriage for my 70 Corvette. It came from the parts place kind of a gloss black. What paint should I use to paint it. I've seen some kind of a dark gray. I think it is suppose to be fiberglass looking but I know I can't do that.
Any suggestions on what people are doing.
Thanks
Hmm.... I got mine from a chevy dealer 30+ years ago and just installed a couple of years ago (1 or 2). Mine was a grayish raw fiberglass looking thing. I just cleaned it and clear coated it.
Do you have a picture of yours? Let me see if I can find one of mine.....
Here is a pic of the new one and the old cracked-up broken thing as I was preparing to assemble to install:

They were not painted from the factory but could have Blackout over spray from the exhaust system on the sides. Here is an image of the original finish how it should look.
