Kicking off my 69 restomod. New frame, 635HP+ LS3 engine with 6-speed manual trans are the basis of the restomod with new electronics/interior. Wanted to get the group's feedback on paint color. Specifically wanting to have something unique staying away from the popular black, silver, red and yellow colors. I have considered the original fathom green (or British racing green) but also am considering a Aston Martin Snow Shadow Gray but in a matte finish. Any reactions? One immediate question is what to do with the chrome. Black it all out? Blend a little blacked out (wheels, perhaps side vents) but leave bumpers and side pipes (cover blacked out)? Or black out it all?
Thoughts or reactions? Constructive reactions appreciated.

Gray is a great choice. My favorite was Cyber Gray from GM - I know they used it in 2010. The idea of mixing the black and chrome sounds good. Keep us posted with progress and pictures.
So I think a few pull it off well like Rambo and the ridetech 48hr vette and a few others. My problem with it is you bought a chrome car for a reason and chrome like cash is king! Seriously the thing that gives me pause is these are "trends" and to go back to chrome will not be cheap. Not saying its a bad look I like it just wouldn't do it to my car, its really huge trend on 1st and 2nd gen Camaro.
Grey is a great color and one I'm thinking about for my white 69...
I agree with liking the chrome look. While red is not your color, my LS7 swapped convertible is as stock looking as I can get. Kind of makes her a sleeper given the performance expectations of an old C3.

I'm not a fan of blacked out chrome or black wheels. My 71 was repainted a stock (oh the horror) mid-2000 Dodge Ram pick up green. It had a bit of metallic in it and I really liked it. The blacked out look reminds me of all the late 80's early 90's street rods that were painted all one color. Bumpers, trim everything. Today those cars even if well built are getting killed at the auctions. Again just my opinion but the chrome bumpers and shiny wheels make for great contrast to almost any color.
But and this is a big but build it how ever you like. It's your car. There are a million different colors out there to chose from. I'm a red car guy. As they say "resale" red.
I tend to build something, enjoy it for a few years and then some other project catches my eye so my current hot rod goes down the road.
Just one piece of advice not from me but from the guy that has painted my cars. Drive around a bunch of new car lots and look at colors and then pick a stock color you like. Then when you get that first door ding or rock chip the paint can be easily matched.
Good luck with your project.
I guess I went with in your face look. Road race was my objective, with not a normal red, but a sinister red.
No chrome or flashy wheels. ...Subdued. But I guess not my paint. In the sunshine it is unreal.
Some of the Charcoals look super impressive on the current silver & grey thread.
I like the race look vs the chrome look (which certainly has its place), so my nod would be blacked out on the chrome.
Maybe a base paint to add a changeable wrap to? I studied C3 race cars endlessly.
It is so hard to come out with the identity you (I) have to live with on the front end... Sleepless!
The only color other than the Lemans Blue of mine (see pic) is something somebody shared on here once called Cadillac White Diamond (or Diamond White?)..... one of those names and it is just a beautiful color. Somebody had a picture on here some time ago.
