My 82 CE which I have owned for 10 years doesn't have inner/outer heats stoves (shields) on left side manifould. I never thought anything of it until I started reading the 82 shop manual which I recently purchased. According to the manual, there should be a hose going from the heat stoves to the air cleaner which is obviously missing. Also, the manual is showing gaskets on top of both injectors where the air cleaner sits. Mine doesn't have these gaskets. I have a feeling they were removed from previous owner. My searches on corvette parts suppliers didn't show any heat stoves for an 82.
I would like to know what other 82 owners have the heat stoves, hose going from stoves to air cleaner and gaskets on the injectors.
Thanks
How much room is there between the power steering unit and the exhaust header?
The shield goes around the manifold tubes to provide protection from radiant heat and the stove pipe connects to it and the air cleaner assembly.
When I installed the Borgeson steering box in my '82 the heat shield had to be removed from that side because there is only maybe 1/8th of an inch between them now. Something to consider if applicable....
