Default Radiator removal , brackets

So, first up got my shop manual coming from eBay today, hopefully will mean less dumb questions from me! Want to get started pulling things out and not sure about the top brackets, my car has AC and looks like the bracket also holds the cooling fins for that? If anyone has a picture that would be much appreciated.

Just wondering if the AC condenser in front of the radiator comes off or stays put. Looks like the radiator bracket on top also is holding the condenser.

The AC rad stays bolted to the core support at the bottom, but the upper bolt that holds the rad bracket goes through the AC bracket first. Hope that helps. The car is sitting in the garage and I can take different pictures if needed.

The condenser can stay mounted where it is but the top bolts will need to be removed because, as you mentioned the condenser uses the same bolts as the upper radiator brackets. Once the brackets are removed, the shroud detached from the radiator support frame, fan blade assembly removed, and all hoses disconnected, the radiator should be able to be wiggled, rotated, twisted, and cursed until it's out.

interpon, thanks so much for the great link! Awesome to see your detailed pictures and description along the way. I am going with the Dewitts aluminum unit, like that they are made here in Michigan about an hour away from me. Looks like Spal fans , twin will get the cooling duty.

Big thanks to all for the help and tips, not an easy job but its out! Time for clean up and detailing and also new water pump, any suggestions on what style to use and who to get from. Have seen the Stewart high flow but sounds like it may be overkill for my stock setup. Also want to start removing the AIR system , does the computer care if its hooked up or not? Will need new headers or exhaust manifold to replace stock.

good luck , install sucks, it's far from "direct fit"

Dewitts radiator in 1980 ,, not a Direct Fit like its said to be, rubber mounts are way to big, dont fit in the saddles down into the rad support nor the upper brackets, used 2-5/8 oem rubber on the bottom (trimmed) & as for uppers, i used what Dewitts supplied , 2 huge thick rubber which i had to really modify,,, not a easy task. But its done, as for the quality of there radiators, there Beautiful but they are NOT DIRECT FIT as they claim
