What do you guys think it's worth? Thoughts on condition? The sellar has been very responsive. 1969 convertible
Before anyone says how expensive it will be. This is not my first Vette. I did a body on restoration of a 71. I know how to do all the body work, paint, electrical, interior, vacuum systems, brakes, suspension and motor myself. The only thing I cant do is frame repair. I will have to contract that out..
Hard to tell from the pictures, but as stated in ad there is frame rust and probably means there is birdcage rust.
Could need an entire frame or just repairs. If you want a numbers car then you are probably wanting the car
as correct as possible which means there are plenty parts missing that will be expensive to find.
FWIW, just be prepared......
I think 10 to 12 is a pretty decent price for a project 69 convertible 4sp original base 350 with a lot of good parts. IF,..., frame rust and bird cage rust is not too bad or only surface rust and body is decent. Unfortunately some windshield frame rust under the glass is hard to detect fully. Ask him if he has replaced the windshield recently. Looks like Cortez Silver on the trim tag, will be interesting to see what it goes for.

I'm currently the highest bidder at $9900. The reserve is off. If he is asking $12k and the reserve is off at $9900 should I offer him $10k From the Craigslist add?

It really doesn't look that bad. $10k seems pretty fair IF you really want a project.

I can't afford turn key plus I want to resto mond anyway. I've done it all before. The only thing that bothers me is the rust in the frame. As long as it can be fixed without pulling the body I'm good with the rest of the car.

For me, the bird cage has always been the hardest thing to fix and make it look nice once there is major damage to it. If it is in good shape like he claims then it seems solid. I would ask him to pop the trim off and get a few shots for you. All he can do is say no....

I got it for $10k.. going to cost me 600 to ship it. The transport company knows the guy and the car. Talked to the owner for about 45 minutes while he walked around the car and took pictures. He sent me a picture of the title and his bank where we are going to do a bank to bank wire transfer.
I know I'm taking a leap of faith. Wish me luck that it doesn't bite me in the ***!!!

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Take it from a guy who has owned 116 cars at this point. Anecdotal evidence like the transporter you called knowing the guy and the guy taking the time to do more than shove it out the door goes a VERY long way for me. It will not be 100% as you expect, but that usually has much more to do with how a different person perceives different things rather than subterfuge. It sounds like you got a good deal. CONGRATS!!
Congratulations! I'm glad it worked out, although you missed out on the road trip experience.
I'm not big on road trips... you would think as much as I love cars I would be willing to go but anything more than 3 hours a way I'm out! Lol!!! Plus he split the shipping with me so it only cost me $350!
