Default 1968 front grille brackets

I spent time looking at the older threads hoping to find the answer to this question...I did not find what I was looking for and thought I would see what you folks have to say :-)

The lower outer grille bracket is missing on my 68... in looking at the AIM for 68 it looks like there is a small separate bracket similar to the upper outer bracket that can be purchased for $20... however the missing lower outer bracket looks to be a whopping $80. I see that the 69 has a bracket for the turn signal that incorporates the lower bracket... so the question is... can the 69 turn signal bracket be used on a 68 or not?

Thanks everyone - Paul

the 68 lower outer bracket is riveted to the body, one yer only, 69 bracket will work but you have to drill 2 holes for the bolts
very rare to have a 68 with the original brackets in place,

I have an extra passenger side one. I kept losing them so I had to buy another. I think I actually have 2 passenger side ones somewhere. I’ll look if you need that side

LT1-Kid and Rescue Rogers,

Thanks for the response, greatly appreciated. At least I have options :-) I assume that no one buys the correct 68 bracket for $80.... I need both the passenger and driver side lower outer brackets... if you have them that would be great :-) Let me know the condition and cost. From the above it looks like there may only be a passenger side available.

Margozzi do not snooze, if you need the correct 68 bracket and you have a couple members stating they have one side or the other, just arrange to get it from one of them. You will find the other side. I was in the same situation with my 68 and found what I needed here. Yes rivet it in place.
