spark plug heat shields

Did all the 427's have them ? getting ready to assemble my 390/427

427's didn't get factory applied spark plug heat shields. Spark plug heat shields started sometime in the 1971 model year on 454's.

Thanks John, I see these things being advertised for the 427, 454, 396 so I wasn't sure, my engine was all in pieces when I got the car

Have them on my 81, 350....do they really work to help keep heat from plugs? Seems like with modern wires they should be ok? Thinking of taking mine off. Thanks

Ya small block is a different design, I have a 67 RS SS 350 4 speed and I have them on it
