Hi guys - Been lurking here for about a year, this is my first official post (question).
Are the roof panels for all C3's interchangeable? I ran across a smoked one piece panel locally and am considering buying it. The owner said it was for his 72. I have a 78.
Will it fit my car?
Thanks in advance.

The astro glass panels (one piece) were always listed as fitting 68-82 vettes so I'm not sure how they mounted on the rears. IIRC they were pushing "no mods" so I can only guess they had a way of dealing with the dual vs single lever latch differences between the pre and post 78 change from single to dual lever mounting at the rear

I'm nearly certain GM didn't make a one-piece top because it wouldn't fit in the car. Definitely for '68-'77 but they might fit in a '78+. Keep that in mind as it's never good to be caught in an unexpected rain with no top.
My '79 had one of those when I bought it. It was definitely an aftermarket piece and IMHO it was a pretty Mickey Mouse setup. There were clamps that secured it to the inside of the car. I never used it.

I've found you can drive all day in the rain as long as you don't slow down.

Touchey my friend. I did that for about 10 miles on a rural highway with ZERO semis during a sudden downpour. Really cool to watch all the water flowing around the car without coming in, Thankfully the rain ended before I had to slow down
Yea that does work on rural highways with ZERO semis. Did that and it was actually fun
