Default One (big) Step Forward

Today I lowered the body of my '71 back onto the frame. I thought I was ready a couple of weeks ago, then I read a few threads on DEI Floor and Tunnel shield.
So, After that project was completed, I was ready. I had my son and daughter there to help, It went surprisingly well, very smoothly actually.
I know have a long way to go. Like totally rewiring, completing the fuel system, and on and on. But, Today was a good day and my car is looking like a car
again after having the body suspended (with proper support) from my garage rafters.
I don't get to work on it half as much as I 'd like, and I know the progress I continue to make won't be as obvious as todays, but it all adds up.

Heres the completed heat shield

Put new body mounts in. Went with rubber instead of the original Aluminum

All mounts ready for the body

Here it is right after we lowered it. Went really smooth. Nose bracing was installed right after.

Heres my Skip white engine surrounded by a nicely painted compartment.

I did the same with the DEI stuff on my 69. You will love it. Won’t need any insulation on the inside except high up on inner dash. Amazing stuff.

Congrats on getting the body back on the frame!!! I remember that day for me as well. I'm sure you have some sort of pulley system to put the body back on as I'm sure only your son and daughter would not have been enough... here's how many people I took to put my '70 back on the frame... probably overkill, but a lot of people wanted to see it done so I had more than enough volunteers...

Very Nice. It is a memorable moment. I was glad to experience it with my kids.
I had a 4x6 across my garage joists that I put an anchor on. Then I used a Harbor Freight chain hoist and those body lifting straps.
These days I don't think I could get that many people at one location.

Don't get me started on the garage. My wife seems to think EVERYTHING she doesn't have a place for goes in there. Its a constant struggle to make room. It ebbs and flows tho. Sometimes I can even see the floor!

Thanks Richard.

I'm going to be like a politician and give vague answers that don't really say anything.

Some time in the near future.
