Default 1982 corvette

Does anyone own a 1982 that has 1732 etched into the top of the door glass? This was done at the dealership for anti theft.

This is likely an early anti-theft/ID & recovery product sold by Dealers and aftermarket companies. Like a brand, tattoo or ID microchip on an animal to help with ID & recovery.
Sometimes the insurance companies would give a discount on your premiums if you had one. They were not factory applied.

I have all the glass and a few body panels in my 82 etched with the VIN, small text. Like mentioned, it was about if your car was stolen thing. While I was replacing my complete interior, I found the original stencil/template that was used for the VIN buried under the carpeting ...BONUS! I was pretty happy that that was there so I could now redo any glass in my car including the windshield if ever replaced with the original stencil to matched everything.

Default corresponds to VIN?????

Like my other brothers from another mother, have said...Aftermarket.

The only code numbers etched by the factory into the glass were the DATE CODE's. Usually a letter then a number.

Does your number correspond to the VIN last 4 numbers?
