Feeling fortunate. Wife agrees I need a 4 post lift. I have 4 k to spend. I liking the Advantage 9000 HD. Not happy it's not made in the USA. I really like the full boxed design over the C channel design. Thoughts?
Thanks
One thing you need to be aware of is, "you" must have a way to get it off the truck once it arrives. I just recently bought a lift but would have had one a few years ago if i could have cracked that nut. The most the shipping companies would do is give me names of a 3rd person to unload it and set it up and "from what I found" was almost a 3rd of the price of the lift. In my case i couldn't see paying someone from Ohio to come to Michigan to do this. I finally got ahold of a local company who provides lifts to some of the major car dealerships here in the Detroit Metro area and bought the lift and had them install it.
Just something to possibly be aware of when you are doing your shopping.

I got mine used. They are easy to move and nice that it was already assembled. The 4 k you have for the lift should put 2 used ones ready to go in your garage if you have the space. Just a thought.
I bought a Wildfire lift this summer and couldn't be more pleased with it. A friend of mine owns a hot shot trucking company, so I hired him to deliver it to my house. My 16 year old son and I took it off the trailer piece by piece with my engine hoist since I don't have a forklift. The son and I assembled the lift over the course of a weekend
i installed a new 4 post in my pole barn a few years ago. i put in a titan. its not a high end lift but it does the job well for just over 2k. very good usa customer service.seller shipped it to a local freight company. i used a u haul trailer and they dropped it on the trailer with a fork truck. backed it into my garage uncrated it and set it up by myself. not alot involved to it. the sliding hydraulic jack would be a nice accessory but so far i got by with out the jack.
I have an atlas from Greg smith- have had it for years and have picked 1 ton dump trucks on it.
my buddies and I bought lifts from Best Buy auto equipment. Less than 2k each and zero issues from any of our lifts in 3+ years. They look exactly like the one pictured from alibada. I think most of the cheap Chinese lifts are all the same thing just rebranded with a different name.
buy a sub $2k lift and add a good Jack for the lift- that might cost $1,000 itself.

I did the same thing...bought from a local distributor, opened and emptied the crate in to my garage and installed it myself. 3 years later zero issues...best money I spent. I also looked in to the sliding Jack they sell...$1000...they advised against it because the seals had a tendency to fail if it wasn’t used regularly.
Hi Twinpack, you're going to really like having a lift installed! HOOAH raises a really good point. These things are heavy. When they arrive, you'll be responsible for unloading it. And setting it up, and all that stuff.
When I (finally) decided to get a lift, I did a lot of checking and decided on BendPak. I'm not going to spend any time on brands - there are a lot of good ones, and some not so good. You'll figure out which brand you want (as my parents used to say to me; 'when you buy quality you only wince once'). When I talked to BendPak I asked about installers and got a few local names. I called one of them, got a good price on the lift, and asked about delivery and installation. He added $450 for delivery and install. Waaaaaaaay worth it. He came, brought his helper, they unloaded it, worked with me on where I wanted it, and had it done in about 3 hours start to finish. My back felt great.
We liked it so much we called him a year later and did the same deal for a second one. I highly recommend getting it delivered and installed. Have fun!! Paul
When I ordered my Bendpak I had arranged with an installer in Dallas and the lift was delivered to them. They then brought it out, unloaded it and set it up. Talk to an installer first!
I bought a Bend Pak HD 9. It has a capacity of 9,000 lbs. You need a compressor to unlock the locks. I bought the aluminum ramps. They are easy on the back and store in the lift when not used. I wired it up for 220 volts so it is fast going up. I also ordered a jack plate to use for jacking and jack stands. I unloaded it from the truck with an engine hoist and used a few floor jacks and car dolly to set it up. The install was pretty easy and completed in a day. I recently purchased a 6 ton 3 bag air jack for $115. It makes suspension work easy. Keep an eye on the cables and pulleys as they can go off track and cause a sudden collapse if one gets stuck. Good luck and be careful. Jerry

I bought a Chinese lift 4 years ago. I use it quite a bit and am very happy with it. The company I purchased it from had a terminal about an hour away. I had them fork lift it on my open car trailer and then moved it into the garage piece by piece with help of my BIL (strong). I leave the ramps on all the time because I leave the lift in the down position and have the room.I check the cables and pulleys frequently and check the adjustments (levelness) about twice a year. I'd now probably go with a USA made one just for more peace of mind.
My wife doesn't want me under it if she's not home. i told her if the car/lift falls on me it won't matter if she's home or not.
Bought my 4 post Atlas from Greg Smith about 5 years ago. Best money I've ever spent.
Greg Smith in Indianapolis is about 2 1/2 hours south of me, so I went there to check out their showroom and all the different lifts they offered.
The standard Atlas was like the Toyota Camry of lifts, a million of them out there so parts and support will be around forever.
At the time it was around $1900 without delivery. Their catalog showed about $2300 including delivery, but it had to go to a location with a loading dock and then you need to figure out how to get it to your house from there.
A salesman gave me the number of a local guy they recommend for delivery and installation. I was WAY out of his service area but was able to bribe him with some $$$ cash.
Older guy with a helper arrived on a Saturday morning and they had it done in about 2 hours. I paid $700 but that was delivered directly to my house and installed, so all in about $2600 + tax.
No issues after years of use and it lifts my 5,000+ lb Cayenne with ease. The included caster kit is awesome, it uses its own weight to raise itself and you can move it around with one hand.
I see the one on Alibaba looks the same, yet there is no way I'd trust it (I'd fully expect a nightlight from that site to burn my house down). Greg Smith is liable for what they sell and has a reputation, it's built to their specs out of a known plant. The one from Alibaba might be made 10 miles down the road and be a deadly knock off. If something goes wrong and you have catastrophic damage to your cars and garage, who are you going to go after? If a part is missing, good luck trying to get a replacement.
Probably made in China, but at least in their own factory. The lift is ALI certified to actually handle the advertised weights. Their warehouse direct loaded it on to my 16ft trailer and I used my tractor to lift each piece and place it on 4-wheel dollies to move into position. If you look you can usually find a tractor for rent. Took only a couple of hours to fully unload and a day (by myself) to assemble. If you get a Direct Lift their directions are wrong on one point - they say you need 9ft clearance for installing the lock rod but that is no longer true as the rod now comes in 3 pieces rather than 2.
I will say the Greg Smith lift looks good, and the price is right.

Question for you , do you experience any sway when the lift has a car loaded up? My concern is. I plan on using the lift not just storage. Pulling a transmission, exhaust work even suspension work. I just keep picturing really wrenching on something and the lift moving.

I have two Bend Pak's. Both are 9,000 pound; one is standard height, standard width; one is standard height with extra width for my C-7. I love them both. I installed the first one myself and picked it up at the local terminal. It was a major pain in the butt as one side is 700 pounds and it took me a long weekend to assemble it. The second lift I purchased and paid for the delivery to my home and then hired a team to assemble it. Yes it cost more but what a difference for me personally.
I went with the 120V motors; they can be purchased as 120V or 240V. Difference is the speed of rise which I am not in a hurry and the 120V works well for me. I use a gantry crane with my lift and I can lift bodies; engines; transmission; anything and everything with this combo.
I like Backyard Buddy. It has a smaller overall footprint in your garage and will clear an 8' doorway, handy if you ever need to move it. Made in USA!! That' a big deal for me. Look at the locks some lifts use. I like the way BYB locks their lifts vs others. I just ordered a BYB after much research. Cost about 25% more, worth it to me. My 2 cents..
