Merry Christmas Eve 2020!! I am new to Corvette Forum. My son knew I loved Corvettes and have since I was a kid in the early 60's. So, he bought me a 1979 Vette. It's a dream come true for me. I love it. I recently had the carb rebuilt and am somewhat satisfied with the results. I has been running so much better. Nice, smooth and the exhaust is perfect. Yesterday, I was going for a ride. I live in Corsicana, TX about 50 miles straight south of Dallas. When I fired up the Vette, for some reason, the choke would not throttle down. I have no idea what happened. Has anyone had this issue with a C3? Could it be a vacuum hose? Seems like I can hear air suction when I listen under the hood. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, I'm new to the forum, but I'm a Corvette lover for a long, long time!! Thanks for any help and I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas...remember the reason for the season! Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Tommy,
First of all, welcome to the forum.
Second, you have one heck of a son.
Third, while I am not qualified to offer constructive advice, their are many here among us who have the exprerience to get that 79 running like a top.
Best of luck with the new car, and Merry Christmas!

Hi Tommy, welcome to the forum and congrats on the car!
If you can hear a vacuum leak try checking the main vacuum port at the rear of the carb. I've seen these pop off before. This could cause your high idle situation.
Share some pics of your car.
Cheers, Greg

Welcome to the Forum and Congrats on the new toy!
as for a high idle. yes it could be the choke/high idle causing the issue. but vacuum doesn't control the choke. so a vacuum leak sounds like it could be the culprit. follow the noise!

Welcome to the forum from a fellow 79 owner. Others have offered good advice. You'll find the expert here on the forum is Lars. You might reach out to him to address your carb issues. Do a search for him and you'll find his good advice all over this forum.
