Looks like the fun has already begun!
Keep us posted on your project.

Just pulled my engine last weekend from my ‘74 due to needing an overhaul since EVERYTHING on the engine leaks (not to mention already had the TH400 trans out swapping out the flex plate).

If you don’t mind me asking...What’s your plans for the engine? Rebuilding or swapping in a crate? Best of luck!

Greg

Mine is 77 and the same has never been out or touched 120k in miles had original carb gasket lol leaking from numerous spots.
As well leaking from few other locations steering and tranny cooler lines.
Going to replace the rad support as well will take out mine and see if it’s worth rebuilding or not.

Keep us posted and share pics! 😎
Looks like my engine is a 350 4-bolt main swap out of an ‘82 3/4-ton truck. I wasn’t given any history when I purchased the car, but the more I dig the more I’m able to piece together.
I did find the oil pickup laying in the oil pan and some gouged up main bearings and worn rod bearings.
Glad I tore her down...”while I’m at it...” is my new motto.

Yessir, those radiator support replacements are expensive. But when you need one, you need one. It's a few hour job, after draining and removing the radiator, you will have hit the lottery if you can get the lower mount bolts out clean. Typically, if the radiator core support is shot, those bolts are gonna be a bugger.

To the OP: have fun with dropping that new heart in. I'm planning something similar, though I'm thinking an LS3 replacement. Sure looks like a lot of work. Good luck,

Be careful, "While-I'm-At-It-itis" is a real thing! Mine has taken almost 17 yrs to get back on the road now!
