Model "C75" belts came in 78-82 Corvettes.

The "45 A 80" is the date, 45 is the week of the year, and 80 is the year. The "A" is a mystery. At one time it was thought to be the day of the week, but I understand that belts with letters up to an "L" have been seen. The 45th week of 1980 started on October 26th, so these belts were likely installed in a 1981 Corvette, though they may also have been 78-80 over the counter replacement belts. If I have time tomorrow, I'll go through my Corvette parts books, and see if I can match the part numbers to a year and/or color.

I agree, it’s the day of the week. The letter A is the first day of the week, Monday. I have never seen L. Sometimes the E looks like L if it’s a sloppy stamp. I have seen A thru F which is Monday thru Saturday. At least that’s what I’ve been told......

The GM part numbers on the belts, don't show up in any of my Corvette Parts Books. All of the C75 service replacement belts in the parts books have either 6 digit number starting with 4754xx, or an 8 digit number starting 140029xxx. None of the belts shown have a part number in the 14023xxx range. I'm not sure why this is, but production belts may have carried a different part number? Based on the dating, I would guess the belts are 81 Medium Red, but they would be correct for any 78-80 and St Louis built 81 with the red interior. The Bowling Green 81's had a different shade red interior.

Somewhere around 79-80, the Corvette belts started appearing with the "L", in the date between the week and year. The NCRS notes that original examples of 80-82 belts have the "L" included in the seat belt's date. I am the original owner of a Bowling Green 81, built the 3rd week of October 1981. It is an unrestored, 44K mile, NCRS Top Flight car, and it still has it's original seat belts, both dated "37 L 81".
