I don't know, but I'm watching this thread for my 73 'vert! I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have any of those!

You are correct.....73's don't have the water diverter. These were used on earlier C3's. Started to show up again in 74. Not sure of the rivet size either. Couple photos here. Close up shows a fairly standard looking rivet. Not visible with the sill plate installed anyway. I would think one that holds the diverter solidly in place would be sufficient. Don't forget originals had some Sealant applied underneath them as well.
GM part number for the rivets ....3828470 ( if that would help)!

Great info Tooch!
These could be added to a '73 though, couldn't they? Or is there some other design reason GM didn't put these on?

There's another something similar at the top of the door pillar area also? Some wedge piece?

Paul

Hi Paul,
Even though we are straying away from the OP's original question....I can see no reason why you couldn't add the water diverter to a 73 if you wanted. As for a reason why these were no longer used on the 70- E74's who knows, cost savings$$$! Probably! The upper rear door jamb black plastic wedge WS you mention is only found on convertibles.

Ok this has been a royal pain. Went to O'Reilly's and they could not find it by using the part number 3828470. Went to the Chevy Dealer and he said the part number changed and they did not have any. He said the size of the rivets were 13/64 x 1/2.

Doesn’t surprise me. I got the part number from the 74 Assembly manual assuming the numbers might be the same for 75 . At least you have the size.

I can assure you that it’s possible, though I did wonder why there weren’t any holes for the rivets
