Hello all.
Just purchased a very clean 82 in Maryland. Looking to have it transported to Long Island, New York.
Any suggestions on who or who not to use. Thank you
This may seem obvious But you could just do it yourself. You could rent a trailer and even a pickup if you don’t have one for probably cheaper than you could pay for a tow or transport, and you could be done in a day. Just depends on what you want to do and I suppose the value of the car. If you’re buying a Top Flight car I’d probably look at a enclosed transport.
My brother had his 71 Chevelle 396 transported to RI with this guy. Enclosed trailer with his living quarters in front part of the trailer. He never lets the car out of his sight. Located in Maryland

I like the living quarters in the front of the trailer and the "your car will NOT be left alone" part.
About 12 years ago I had a Harley transported from FL to MA, used a company called Incognito Express. I was very satisfied with the service and price, I would use them again if I was looking.
Thank you all.
Ideally, I would go get it myself but I don't have 8+ free hours on any one given day. I called two suggested places listed here and left a message. Never got a call back. Went with SGT Transport with a enclosed trailer. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Contacted him. He refuses to drive on New York roads. Turned away $$
Maybe you could contact a "local" collector car sales place and see whom they use on a regular basis for such a short run?
I had the same problem when I sold one of my hot rods. Per the driver of the transport "I will be there at 3 PM on Friday". That changed 5 times. I finally told the buyer I will park the car in the street with the keys in it and if it's gone I will assume the correct transport company has picked up the car. After I calmed down a bit and talking with the buyer he had contracted a lowest bidder transport company. He cancelled the contract and went with company that showed up on time.

I did. I called Horseless Carriage................................ ...$1350!!! twice the amount of others.
I wonder how Reliable Transport treats Barrett Jackson's auction transport. After being educated in the past several days, this seems to be the norm with transporters. They even confirm this when you speak with them. I don't get it.
I have now booked Montway Auto Transport. Let's see how that goes.
