1975 Corvette ignition
I have a 1975 Corvette , I've had the steering column apart and when I put the switch back in it wasn't exactly aligned and it pushes the metal rod out and then the switch binds and doesn't turn, once I found out what the problem was I used a long thin screw driver to push it back in, but will it stay in place. I don't want to reassembly the steering column and install it and have it bind up again. Should I replace the plastic gear and rod while it's apart, when I first took it apart the rod didn't come out very easy and may have been damaged when I pushed it out.
