Default 80 L-82 Corvette

Tossing around the idea of changing over the automatic to a 4 speed in a 1980 L-82 C-3. Beings that model wasn't available with a 4 speed what would it do to the value of the car by changing it over. I know it isn't a high value collector car but would this put more value or less value to the car. I just like the idea of a 4 speed in a older corvette.

Do it if it'll make you happy and I'm sure the value will go up...but not by much.

If you’re going to that much trouble, put in a 5-speed. It completely transforms the car.

It's your car , do what you want. . I don't see that it would lower the price but that being said I don't think that the amount of money that would be required to purchase the change over items would ever be recovered on a future sale.

But then if money is a big issue, you're in the wrong car.

It’s a lot more fun.

id you are concerned with value keep the factory parts and sell with the car.

it would be high on my list if I bought an auto car.

The 4-speed in my 80 is the #1 feature of the car. I'm considering swapping it for a 5-speed TKX, but I'm waiting for some reviews to roll in.

I have one of each (auto and manual C3), and the 4-speed is about a million times more fun to drive. Isn't that what matters?

Totally Agree that a 4 speed C3, especially with the L-82/LT1/ BB motors, is a completely different car than the automatic C3's!

Agree as well that if you can your Auto L-82 to a stick the value would go up since those 80 L-82 cars never existed. Do it right, and go 5 speed.

I have a twin 1980 L-82 of yours and the TKX is on my list of things to do. The current market does not put much of a value on the stock rubber bumper Vettes so they are probably more valuable as drivers. I struggled with the idea of modding mine for a long time but it is time now to make some changes. Jump on in, the waters fine.
