Hello,
The '77 hood is identical to the '73 in size and shape with exception in '77 the Cold Air Induction system was removed ( no longer used since '75)., so the rear edge hood Vent grille was eliminated.
Not sure what what you mean by to " Chop up" though? If you are looking for a larger more bulkier hood power bulge for the '73 you might need to go aftermarket.
Regards,
Tooch
Yes I know that only 73 to 75 had the induction hood. That's why I dont want to chopped up mine and by that I mean modifications, I'm gonna install twin turbochargers and want to make a few holes on my hood want to install hood louvers on the bottom middle of hood and a couple of vents where the turbos will sit. I was reading on another thread that there was some difference on a 77 hood latch. Was wondering what I needed to change or if I could just use my original hood hardware for the installation. Thanks.
latch mount points are different. you would have to cut latch mounts out of a trashed 70-76 hood. or ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/69-76-Corve...kAAOSwP8Vc2YKh cut bottom out of the 77 hood and river-bond latches to the pieces and glass them back in. god help you if you miss by a 32nd of an inch... 77 latches also don't go on 73 bodies easy enough to do. i am gonna cheat and put hot rod hood pins thru my 100 buck 77 hood on my 75. best bet is sell the hood and find a 73-76 hood.

Gotcha!
There is a difference in the latches as derekderek describes below:
Hood pins would be great, I had never seen them on a c3 until now that you mentioned it. That would be perfect I can install the pins for the custom hood and remove then in future in case I want to put my original hood. However I'm to much of a perfectionist and ending with something like this is with crooked pins is a big NO NO.
What do I need to do for them to look like this instead? This is very sexy.
You could use magnets to keep it closed and forget the latches. Should be easy enough to do, and no holes through the hood and different locations.
Thanks for that tip, we didn't know they made those, but we've decided to go with the pins actually. It will definitely add to the look we are looking for.
you don't own the 77 hood yet? craigslist, fb marketplace that 77 hood ain't worth 200 unless you have a 77.
Well not sure what you mean by that. But for 100$ that hood is perfect for us to modify make some holes for vents and have a spare one. And we keep our original hood just the way it is we You really cant beat that in our humble opinion. But thanks for the input.
if you have a 77 the hood is correct. no mods. it is worth dealing with the paint and ugly issues. you want a hood you don't have to mod. there are 73 to 76 hoods out there. and 77 to 79 hoods that are nicer for the same or similar money. 300 near philly. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...code=undefined greyhound is cost effective for shipping hoods. where are you?

This is why I was looking for a hood that looked like this and that it was cheap. So we can modify it to have a spare and work is easy. My question was regarding the latch cause we wasnt sure if it was going to close. Pins had totally pass by us until we asked here. We are happy with this hood and like I mentioned it was 100$ thanks again for all your input.
Yes $100 for the hood and $100 for shipping. The next listing has the hood for $200 and $150 for shipping, also I'm in Costa Rica so Facebook market place or craigslist lots of scams, nothing like Ebay buyer protection. I buy and ship item to port my friend works in the boat shipping company he received items check for me if all good he sends to costa rica if not he sends back to seller, never had an issue been doing this since the late 90s also I enjoy fixing things so the condition is no problem is a challenge and nothing like the feeling of bringing something back from the dead. Cheers!
