68 gas cap

68 gas cap

Looking to replace my key lock gas cap with the original vented twist on. I’ve seen some originals listed as 63-69 with either a “S” or “SM” logo. Which is correct for the 68?

"SMC" that is for the Stant Manufacturing Corporation. This the logo and the configuration of the cap twist handle tabs point away from the word Vented on originals.

Thanks for the info and pics. Now I better see the letter C around the SM.
So the SMC is the correct logo for the 68?
Any idea what the caps with just the letter S were used for? I saw some of them on eBay.

It is still a Stant cap but an over the counter service part. It would work fine if originality is not important.
