Im installing a new Center-console.
--I must ask this even that I know there's a lot of threads here on this matter.
I've read about the problems to aligning the interior parts. Especially the center.
I've read about the issue with the speedo/tach cable, that can cause the dash to not align.
And I have seen people use force to push things into place.
But I have not read about anyone having the issue that the air ventilation in the top center is in the way.
I can't force the gouges under, and up, the vent.
i'm pretty sure that the dash, or most of it, has been removed before.
Can i measure the distance from top of the window to the dash, and by that understand if the dash as a whole is to low? Do anyone know this measures?
The two nuts above the AC Vent are confusing me. Anyway, I eventually broke one of the top ears on my Pot Metal Gauge Housing trying to get a decent fit. After I purchased a new gauge housing the problem continued. In my case, the black plastic defrost vent is not close enough to the firewall and pushes the AC Vent outward. I was afraid to dig into the HVAC System, so I used a Dremel to cut away some of the plastic vent. I removed a little at a time and kept testing till the wiper bezel fit decently. Just call me Bubba, but 45 year old plastic that has been through Hell, is not very cooperative.
Dash alignment problems again
