Hi Folks, just sold my 82 and now I am a proud owner of a 1973. I'm starting with the interior. Dash, carpet, seats are all perfect. All gauges and indicators work. On the drivers side there is a piece of trim that looks pretty bad. It is to the right of the door. Please see the attached pic. Color should be medium saddle. Any ideas where I can buy this from or should I try to repair myself? Is it hard to install? Just ordered the AIM. Any help with finding a replacement and suggestions to swap would be greatly appreciated
. Thanks
I think the link I posted is for a repair kit.... fasteners. But it shows the quarter panel that he needs.
I`d certainly try to glue the loose ends first though!
Try to warm up the vinyl with a low heat before you put the glue on. That will make it easier to stretch around the edge. Put the adhesive in place and get a few clamps to hold it until it cures. That should work. If not take the panel to an auto upholstery shop and they should be able to fix it up for less than a new panel and you keep the fit of an original. Nice looking car BTW.
Thanks all for your help. Once out I will have it re-done. I'm sure I will have many more questions related to the 73. Really nice car but needs some minor touches. Thanks again...
Hello, I know this is a bit off thread, but I have a 1973 convertible that I bought new a with medium saddle interior and I am redoing the carpet, seats, weather stripping. Does your car have the original carpet or has it been replaced? I purchased replacement carpet from Mid-America but the carpet seems darker than the original. I know carpet fades but I have to wonder if they haven't changed the color. Thank you in advance.
Hello, I'm guessing my 73 has the original carpet. It sure looks like original. I don't see any signs that the carpet has ever been removed. Previous owner took exceptional care of this car. I ended up ordering the interior quarter panel pieces from Top Flight in medium saddle and it matches the carpet perfectly.
Fieldsjkk, thank you for the pics, it definitely looks like original carpet. Mine is similar but maybe more faded even thought eh car has been garaged for the past 43 years. The carpet set sent is a bit darker but I have to assume it just will fade with time. Your interior looks really good and good luck with your project. I will be replacing carpet, seat covers, foam, weatherstrip. Door panels will have to wait. here is a pic of the new carpet sitting on the old. Thanks again, Bruce New medium saddle carpet
