Hey guys and gals...so I'm having an issue with my headlights coming up, I pulled the switch and tested and found it to be not holding vacuum....installed a new switch and now when I pull the switch to turn headlights on I hear a sucking noise coming from it.....is this normal? If not did I get a bad switch? Thanks for your help!
Make sure you have the new switch connected properly. If reversed, you will have your symptoms. The vacuum source hose (from the "T") connects to the switch port closest to the pull ****.
Ooh I have had this problem myself.
I never noticed it until i actually turned on the light switch than there was an audio air leak at switch.
I will have to check mine to make sure its on correctly.
Locate where the small hose goes through the firewall from the check valve on the inside. On early cars one hose goes to the headlight switch and the other goes to the wiper door solenoid. On 73 and later cars I guess there would be no "T" as there is no wiper door.
