Hurst linkage questions
Can i install just the new hurst linkage but keep my stock shifter? I wasnt sure what difference the hurst shifter would make other then shorter throws? Any help is appreciated.

You can use this in 77-81 cars. Perhaps there is something available for earlier cars, too.
You will lose the T-handle lockout, and will need to learn the (patented) "Hurst Slap" if you want to get your car into reverse.

If you rebuild the shifter and use the closest hole to the linkage mount on the tranny shift arm. It will shorten the throw. Rebuilding the shifter should take out any slop. Once I rebuilt mine I liked it much more than the Hurst shifter, especially the Hurst slap.....not a fan of that.
