Am i doing something wrong. i hooked up a tester to negative point and inset tester into socket and it shows power. This is in the cigarette light and lighter connections. The lighter connection shows it is always on and the light has power when lights are turned on. But I put in a brand new bulb, and it doesn't work. Any ideas?

If you have power, then you're probably missing the ground connection. The cigarette lighter should have a ground ring that the lighter housing goes thru.
