Quick answer please, so I can button this up... electrical
Replaced the clock in my '71. I've had the instrument panel out a half dozen times but I'm apparently losing my mind.
See the pic: I don't have a clue what this double female connector plugs into. My only guess is that it was a neutral safety switch from my old 4-speed, which I've replaced with a Tremec 5-speed. All my charts say that the neutral safety connection is purple & purple/white. This connector is brown and pink. Help please, I don't want to close the panel up until I know.
As always, TIA
The neutral wires were purple and fairly heavy gauge, I don't think those are them.
Not many brown wires, usually related to the lights or backup lights
Let me check

I don't see anything in my docs for brown and pink connector. Did your car have A/C or rear defrost or something? Might be related to an option package

On my '69 wiring diagram, I also see a tan and pink going to a gas gauge. I also see a brown/pink wires going to a larger ignition connector but not to a 2 wr connector.
Well kiss my ***. Tan and pink it is? Being impatient, I put it all back together without waiting for the forum gurus. Guess I'll open her up and see.
EDIT: Nope, definitely pink and brown. And yes my gas gauge has pink and tan, and works.
I see that in 1971, Corvettes switched to electronic tachs. I have an updated HEI distributor with mechanical tach. My "DocRebuild" chart does show a pink and ???? connector that looks like my mystery connector. Could it be for the stock electronic tach? I'm tempted to put her all back together and forget about it but that's not my style. To be continued.
BTW, this little wrinkle in my day is nothing compared to the hassle I'm having with my cable provider. Such is life.

Electronic tachs came in 75, up till then they were mechanical. I'm still thinking A/C or some option not on the regular schematic

I have Doc's color chart for 1972, and the terminal you have looks to be identical to what the chart says is 'power window relay connector under console'; but your wire colors don't match. The PW relay should be pink w/blk stripe and orange w/blk stripe.
Of course, that's for 72. Maybe 71 used different colors. Do you have a 71 wiring diagram that shows what color wires go to the PW relay?

Problem dismissed.
Thanks for all the replies. I'm no novice when it comes to electrical circuits. Unfortunately, I have various diagrams that show conflicting info.
My car originally was non air. PO added Vintage air. I'm guessing that connector was simply abandoned. Would have been nice if PO would have eliminated it, but apparently not. Any way, all buttoned up and running great. Gotta love 'em.
