Headlights and Wiper Door opened shutting down engine
Hi,
This past weekend during a ride, i got caught in a little rain, turned on the wipers no problem, door opened and wipers activated... a little while later turned off the wipers... at the end of my ride, I turned off the car, and both headlights popped up, and the wiper door popped up... I've read some posts where for the wiper door it could be a leaking wiper control valve, but would this also cause the headlights to pop up or I should look somewhere else for that?
This is the part I'm talking about for the wiper control valve.

it is a leak in the control system that is inline with both systems. follow the black line from the silver split one way valve up to the "T" where it splits to the headlight switch and the wiper solenoid. Your leak can be anywhere in any of those items (including the headlight switch and the wiper solenoid) I mentioned but on the reverse side of the coin, you could have 2 separate leaks. Check for loose hoses and you may just have to trim a 1/4" off each hose to get a good seal again.
I bought a harbor freight A/C vacuum pump and pump my system down with out the engine running, then shut the pump off and listen for leaks. (I bought a cheap christmas tree light switch from Michaels to control it from anywhere in the shop). ITs the most practical way to do it. You could also use a hand pump like a mighty vac but you would have to disconnect the hoses going to the vacuum tank because you will spend hours trying to vacuum that down by hand.
If you dont have a pump you can start by unplugging on system at that T, run the motr to get a vacuum, shut it down and see if both systems still open up. You would have to systemically go through every connection from the headlight switch back.

TO make sure the wiper valve is ok just put a vacuum on the red connector and should hold vacuum I would relieve the wiper arms off that valve then check but I don't think thats your problem and test the check valve witch control the Headlight and wiper door let us hear what you find
