I want to replace some rusty looking 20 year old hedden headers with a set of ceramic coated with long pipes and I was told to find ones with bell ends whatever that might mean. Any thoughts on a direct bolt on set?
Its for a 76.
I am also changing out the heads and exhaust intake at the same time with elderbro

I'm going to guess that you mean your putting Edlebrock Heads and intake manifold on.
Lots of ceramic coated long tube headers on Summits site.
Dougs headers come to mind as an excellent fit. Bell ends??? Got me their.

If you want the best under headers go with American Racing Headers. https://americanracingheaders.com/co...8-1972-headers
If you want the best side exits, go with ACP/Stahl headers https://acpheaders.com/
You probably mean ball end, not bell end. Instead of a stationary gasketed bolt together flange, it uses a floating ball socket arrangement that allows for a little misalignment and still seals.

ball ends are the new style of header collector, metal on metal no gaskets required. Looks like a ball and socket..Hedmans have them.....they work well

Stan’s tri-Y headers are configured for enhanced low-end torque. Doug’s also has tri-Y headers. Both Doug’s and Stan’s make headers and install them so they have got the fit perfected. Long tube headers better for high-end hp. So it depends on street cruising vs. racing.

Hedman Elite Series have the ball and socket arrangement, I have a set on my Z/28 and I like them a lot. The same header for a C3 is pricier than I wanted to pay for my 76, I went with Flowtech #31106 for my 76 Corvette. They fit spectacularly well, plenty of clearance for clutch linkage, at the starter, plugs and wires and the header bolts.I have the Borgeson steering box and there's plenty of room with these headers. They're ceramic coated so they look great, too. They are a standard, three bolt flange header but I can live with that. I couldn't be happier with these Flowtechs. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I’m assuming you still have a small block in your 76.
If so you have numerous different styles and manufactures to choose from.
If for some reason you have a big block in your 76 your choices are very limited.
If you are purchasing new heads now or in the future, purchase your heads first, because exhaust port height can make a big difference in header fitment.
If you are planning additional performance mods in the future, make your plans now and purchase your headers with a sufficient primary tube diameter for those mods.
Primary tubes are usually available from 1 5/8” to 2 1/4” diameter.
To small can really restrict exhaust flow.
To large and you loose hp and torque as well.

I just replaced my long tube hooker headers with a new set of ceramic coated headers from summit. The old ones were about 20 years old and it was definitely time. The new ones from summit were a very good fit. I would go to summit and search for your year version. Probably a safe bet. Check into possible modifications needed around the steering box or drive accessories. If the car already had long tube headers you should be fine. Good luck.
