Found this when I finally got the vette back into the garage for some maintanance and to investigate a vibration and a clunking noise. Vibtation may be due to the u joint clamps all being loose...Cant figure out how they loosend up with lock washers on every bolt...but they are tight. But this took a little more work.

I thought it was just cracked until I got the bolts out and that piece fell on my face.... Ive ad the front eyes tear out in the past but this is something totally different and new to me. I havent seen any aftermarket beefier snubbers so I had to weld this back together. Hopefully it will be strong enough for my little Big Block

So I welded the crack closed inside and out. Then added some angle iron to the bottom lip and a plate along the outside IT wont sheer again but the eyes can still rip out if they want

I have some grade 8 washers I am going to weld on the outside so that the eyes dont rip out....again. I guess this has enough use on it that that is the next thing to go........

The weakest link is always a moving target, especially when you add more bracing

Im hoping the tires would just spin. I would rather replace the rubber than keep fixing everything else

Wow, I’ve never seen a snubber break like that! I wonder if the metal crystallized from welding in the past? Also, it doesn’t look like it has the reinforcement brackets. I have one that is much beefier that I was going to use before I went with a Ford 9”. After all that work, you may not want it, but let me know if you would.

I will take it. Like you said this one may be past its lifetime. I'm guessing it's just going to keep coming apart.

The 63-68 brackets are junk, people don't believe me but your pictures are the proof. In 69 they weld a 1/4 plate at each hole and solved the problem. They are about $40 all over ebay, do yourself a favor and trash that one and get the better one. You can see the hole is opened up and that was the issue when the car was beat on, just one more weak area in these cars in stock form.
