Default Loose U Joint Clamps

I just saw in another thread, (which I didn't want to hijack), that the owner thought his U Joint clamps had come loose. That made me think it had happened to him before.
When I bought my '76 last year, while checking everything over, I found two loose U joint clamps.
Is this a common thing, that should be checked regularly, like when you change the oil and grease the car?

You can check them once incase someone replaced them and didn't properly tighten them but after that you never have to recheck them.

They may be incorrect for whatever size U joints are in the shaft: 1310, 1330, etc. As the joints get larger the caps get larger, I have a chart somewhere but I think 1310 and 1330 are the same diameter, 1350 is larger?
