Differential seal change
I have the factory service manual for my 81 which does show pictures of my differential. I have changed all 3 seals and went to put it back together and the Fel-Pro RDS55389 that is sold by most suppliers, is the wrong gasket. I went to the Rockauto site because it is easy to go back and forth between years. The 1979 differential gasket pattern is what is my bolt pattern is (RDS133141), this is easy to see what to do. Order the RDS133141. So I thought I would check the seals between my 81 & the 79. They are different #’s. My question is, has any one had this issue? The 2 side yokes & pinion yoke did have friction when inserting into the seals. I don’t plan to tear it apart to mic. the yoke shaft dia. & check the seal ID to see how many thousand’s less it is.
