the 81 corvette manual in some areas shows a wire running directly from the alternator to the accessory junction block in battery compartment. i do not have that wire on mine or the junction block and i haven't seen it on few others (79). Anyone know anything about this? I have dug around in the looms looking for it thinking someone cut it off but nothing there.

Looking at a 81 wiring harness on line it shows the red wire going to the battery but it also shows it going to the starter. Most likely its just drawn that way for ease of reading. Most wiring in our vettes go from the alternator to the starter lug and it is used as a terminal. From there it is all bundled and run to the battery or back to the fuse block terminal on the firewall. Jack up your car and or from the starter back to the battery. If you find a picture of the harnesses you can trace the wires that way as well.
I thought that too but the accessory terminal which is available through many corvette outlets seems to suggest there is another wire maybe on some models. Could it have been an option?
just an update for those who may encounter same issue, vette's with digital radio and oil TEMP gauge will have that additional wire and the accessory terminal in the battery compartment according to guys at corvette America.
