I'm going to assume you have a 68. and the drivers side latch isn't releasing properly. try pushing on the hood side to side jiggling it . forward and back. if that doesn't work. reach up through side cowl and grab latch with your hand. there have been many threads on here on this very problem, do a google search. should be able to find heaps more info.

I assume the hood release wire is still hooked up. What he said, and try closing the hood all the way and hold down the pass side while you pull the release.

When you get it open adjust the hood latch pins that are attached to the corners. I tapped a piece of paper to the hood latch and marked where the round latch hole is. Then put some red grease on the tip of the lower latch pins. Then very carefully lower the hood just until the point makes a mark on the paper. You will know if the mark is close to the center of the hole. You can then loosen the bolts that hold the pin and move them to the center. This assumes the latches that are on the hood are solid and functioning.
