I bought a new poly bumper for my 77 (see 2th pic).
My plan is to modify the bumper so it looks like the 73-74 style without the ‘bumperettes’.
Before I begin cutting and grinding things off, I need some clear pics from a 73-74 + some measurements.
Can you guys help me out? (I live in Belgium so It’s not that easy to measure a vette bumper from 73-74 myself)
Extra question:
Do the 73-74 front bumper grills (LH & RH) have the same dimensions as the 75-79 ones?
Did you keep any of the subframe in place? I have this mod on my TO DO list but not sure how to keep the front spoiler without all that extra steel behind the fiberglass bumper. On the bumper I got the center grill is about 1/8 to 1/4 to wide side to side. I figured it was just a problem with the bumper mold and I justplan on sanding it down. Waiting to see the bumperett removal surgery
don't try to make a 73 bumper. just cut the bumperettes off and body work the area smooth and flat. you also need to remove the big iron piece behind the license plate area. are you opening up the center too, or do you guys need a front tag there anyway? you will also have to fab grille mounts. you can see them on this bumper. https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/1975...hoCsakQAvD_BwE i used aluminum angle screwed on for the middle one here cuz the one they put on is an inch too far forward. you could do that for all 3. cuz the grilles mount up to this monstrosity that has to be left out.
