I need to replace my rear cargo doors on my '81 with silver interior due to the usual cracks and damage, however I'm confused about the colours offered by the vendors which often show plastics in a bright metallic silver to match the leather and door cards, where as the original items on my car are more like a warm dolphin belly grey. and in no way silver.
That ^^ all looks very nice, but is in no way like what is in my car....
So, question to the forum, given I want to have it looking original and don't want generic silver like the first image, I will need to buy the standard black door frames and trim and paint to match - what paint / name / code do I buy and from which vendor to get the correct shade of grey as per my original frames?
Please do not suggest I go to a local paint store and have some mixed - I have had nothing but bad experiences doing this and the local ones round here are useless - I want to buy off the shelf, specifically for the purpose if I can.
If you think they are too "Silver" perhaps the '80 oyster frame will be a closer match. I will take pictures of both, my '80 Oyster and '81 Silver compartment door trim and post pictures ASAP.

Thanks - if you can share pics, yes please.
Interesting on the ZIP items - when I select '81 silver, it shows the picture to the furthest right, which looks way too dark, almost black, whereas the picture one to the left looks close to what I have - wonder if ti's just a web error?
I think you have the same as I do, they are #81 Silver. They all match up to my interior.
Forgive me - match up to the silver leather or the grey plastics, as on mine, there is a distinct difference - for example the rear seat backs are a bright metallic silver to match the seat face, whereas the hatch frames are a muted grey. as pictured.

Correct... I believe the webpage is not showing the correct frames which would be the picture to the left. You could also call Zip's technical support to make sure. My '80 has original GM frames. My '81 might have replacement frames. They are a bit lighter than the '80. I do not have the cars side by side right now to compare. You mention replacing your cargo doors. I do not think you want to replace the doors in your car. I believe the replacement doors are a fiberboard whereas your original doors are fiberglass. I do not think you will be happy with the replacement doors. You might want to buy just the door trim and frame and reuse your original doors. Did you buy the ones like those linked at ZIP?
When you are trying to match the color of a forty year old interior, you get as close as you can.

Thanks, and yes, I intend to just replace the plastic frame and retain the original door structure and carpet so it is a) original and b) matches the colour, texture and appearance of the rest of the car pet which is in great original Iif a little dirty0 shape.

I'll order the Zip items - thanks!
Do you need the door limit straps or are they and the mounting hardware still with the car?

Both cables are correct and present both slides, although one of the little screw covers is missing I think.
Rest of the screws and fittings are all there. I've ordered new striker plates though as one was missing.
