Fake; I use a green switch on the neg cable on a side post battery.
Been doing it for years and years.
The only cavet is to make sure the cable is not torqeuing/twisting the green switch contacts otherwise you THINK it's shut off but it's not. A little judicious manipulating of the cable with some trial and error will alleviate this.
I ordered one from NAPA today like to keep the business in my state..I have a parasite draw and it is in the alarm relay coil which has been armed with no tampering showing . Of course i found that today because of the heat the coil was given off in temperture of the coil rising. I will feel safer with power off to car because of other rides in the garage and i do not want a fire! Tomorrow i will test all my stand alone smoke detectors just to be safe. Thanks for the info Mooser and L46 Man
Also added a small fuse across it so the clock (now gone) radio presets etc all stayed. I have LED interior lights so it's only 2A fuse
I like the idea because I seem to be working on something electrical often. But... isn't there still a possibility of draining your battery if you have leave an accessory on that draws only slightly less than 2 amp? e.g. the radio, a door ajar.
In my case the only draw when the doors are closed would be the radio memory and the remote door lock receiver, I think the draw on them is something like 0.014A, so I'm good for 150 days or so. The 2A fuse was so it didn't blow if I opened the door and the courtesy lights (LED) turned on. If I leave the door ajar then yeah it'll go flat in a couple of days I guess

I had a hard time finding my draw and finally found it in my clock. I've seen very few working original clocks working. After a week, battery was dead. I put a knife switch in on the neg. side and all has been well since.
I initially bought one of those green **** pull apart switches and decided it was a pain. Needed two hands, the seat forward. With the knife switch it's very easy to engage and dis-engage. I like it!
