Hey guys- I think my battery gauge in the center cluster is bad so I took the gauge out so much fun so how do I test it and is there a number on the tester I should see its a 1970 thanks bob

Get a 9 volt battery and connect the ground to the top post and momentarily touch the positive to the bottom terminal.
The needle should deflect downward.
Connect the ground to the bottom post and the positive to the top post and the needle should deflect upward.
If the needle doesn't move...look at the terminals next to the winding.
There probably is a small wire THINNER than a hair that has broken or has melted and is no longer connected to the terminal. It's possible to resolder the small wire to the terminal.
Then retest the gauge using Peterbuilt's method.
Well I did the test and the gauge did not move then took it apart and the wire was broke so I received the new one and did the test and it worked thanks 4 the help bob
