Default Borla Pro XS mufflers?

I know there are a million posts on mufflers but just landed on the Borla Pro XS, was considering Magnaflow. Not much out there on YouTube but there are a few clips and they sound really nice. My motor is stock with a replacement Magnaflow cat converter, going to order new rear Y pipe to go along with new mufflers. Looking for more sound at all rpms. Thanks

I put the Borla CrateMuffler (S-Type) on my '73. I was looking for something quiet at idle and cruising but noticeable at throttle. It's not too loud at all but will get your attention when at full throttle. If you want louder, they offer another CrateMuffler called the ATAK. It's supposedly to have very aggressive sound. I actually contacted Borla and discussed my options with them. One of the options I was considering was the Borla Pro XS. My '73 has a 383 crate engine and after going over the various options with them, I chose the S-type. The only issue I have is the same one I had with the previous engine/tranny/exhaust system and that is a resonant drone in the 1500 to 2000 rpm range. If I could tame that drone, my new exhaust would be perfect for me even though some think it's too quiet. I did go with an X-pipe on my new exhaust which changes the sound. It sounds good to me but has a bit more of an exotic car sound than a traditional hot rod growl.

If you end up with Borla mufflers that seem too loud, Borla does offer a small resonator that will reduce the sound level.

I gave up on Magnaflow. I contacted them numerous times by private message on this site and numerous times by email and they never once responded to me. I even left a message for a callback and got no response. Borla got back with me the same day.

Good luck,

DC

I have the Borla Atak on my C3 and C5. It's not that bad at all it's got a good grumble, you can hear me coming but not from a mile away. I can roll up the window and listen to music. Even with that said I would go the one below the Atak if I was doing it again on the C3. Just prefer less exhaust music these days. Rather be faster vs louder

I have long tube headers, my exhaust is 2.5 stainless with X pipe and no drone with them btw.
