My 1978 Corvette is losing it's nice cozy garage and will have to park in an apartment complex parking lot. What car cover you guys recommend for around $200. I I wanted to be waterproof also.
For a time I had to keep one of my cars outside (the C3) - lost storage. I went through several covers and found the Weather Shield HP to be the best one I used. Light weight and kept the water off of the car except if it was a long duration rain event - several days. My experience with Noah covers was not very good and would avoid them - my opinion only.
You don't want a "water proof" cover, it needs to breath to allow built up moisture to evaporate. If it is "water proof" the moisture will sit there and potentially cause damage.
My C3 unfortunately also needs to parked outside and has been for the past 16 years. I buy the $60 ebay outdoor cover (they advertise it as 117 layers or something like that) and I have to replace it once a year. However, it does the job, rain or shine. The important thing though, is to make sure that after every rain, you remove the cover and air your car out.
I have purchased four Cover Craft Weathershield HP that come with a four year warranty. The threads on the seems begin to deteriorate after three years, the good news is that the manufacturer honors their warranty. On my last cover I went with a new material they have and it has a five year warranty. The cover is less expensive and the material is a bit heavier, but so far it is don a great job. Some of my cars stay outside most of the time.

This is the type of damage that can result from a cover that doesn’t breathe. Whatever you get, make sure you let it dry after a rain or snow event. It took me around 200 hours to remove most of this and I wasn’t able to correct it all.
A previous owner must have had mine under a tarp for a loooong time. I’m just the lucky guy who got to fix it!
