On my 72 I would like to remove the entire headlight assemblies as units. Lookied at various posts and instructions, and many include a lot of disassembly.
If I remove the front bumper, lower valance, grilles and bumper supports can I drop them out from the bottom as a complete assembly? Seems like it should work and I'm going to be removing most of that anyway. Thanks
Th front lower valance on a 72' does not come out. I think I would try to remove the hood, rad and core support.....all the work is up top and easy to get to....and you can clean and detail all of the pieces that you remove before you re-install.
Definitely remove the hood and take the vac cans off, then separate the headlights from the frames at the pivot
BE CAREFUL OF THE POSITION SWITCHES, THEY BREAK EASY
IIRC removing the center bumper brace (the large one that goes from the center of the bumper down to the frame cross-member part) really helped to be able to get at the side of the headlight assembly and let it rotate around to be able to get it out in front of the rad. (if you can remove the rad and core support then there's tons of room)
Not sure if this helps but maybe a reference when you go to put everything back together headlights-back-together
