Since I bought my 1978 corvette the drivers side window has been a touch low in on the top front and this past weekend I spent hours trying to adjust it with no luck. I’ve gone through every adjustment and nothing seems to work. I can set it perfect and lock it down but as soon as I roll it down and back up it has the same gap or worse in the top front and or the window still moves to a different adjustment when I open and close the door. However when I open the door it rolls up further, sometimes all the way. I thought it was getting caught but I’m not seeing anywhere it would be. Also it seems as though the window is lose or something because I can roll it up all the way with the door opened or closed and I can then pull the front part of the window up and it’s right where I need it. It’s almost like when I roll it up it rolls up even and then for the last inch only the back half of the window rolls up causing it to tilt and give that front gap. Any advice? I’m desperate at this point.
Do you all think this could be from the rollers or the track? I’m able to either roll it up all the way with the door open or all the way up in the back but with a half inch or so low in the front. It tilts last second with the door closed for some reason, but I can easily pull it up to all the way up in the front by just pulling on the glass which makes me think something is loose. I’m also seeing nowhere where it can be catching on weatherstrips.
if you pull up on the glass is it loose? that may tell you right away its a broken roller.
Have you cleaned out the window regulator? sometimes the old grease dirt and grime get dried out and gummy.
It usually builds up toward the limits of the rollers, so there is more resisitance as the glass gets higher.
Maybe a good cleaning and regreasing will liven it up a bit so it doesnt struggle that last few inches?
there is an adjustment for how much the glass lays on the body seals. since it raises easier with the door open, You can use soapy water or waterbase lube on the weatherstrip and see if it helps the glass.
youll be able to see the wet areas pressed on the glass easier or if it helps the movement.

just tossing ideas out there. good luck
Thanks for the advice. I was able to determine that even though it didn’t look like it, the A pillar weatherstrip was the issue. At least I think it is. When I took it completely off the window goes up all the way no problem now with the door shut and will hopefully do the same when I put the new one on.
However, the glass is still pretty loose and I can wiggle it back and forth (towards and away from the car) a little bit when it’s rolled all the way up and a decent amount when it’s halfway up. Does this mean bad rollers and is it necessary to fix or can I leave it if it doesn’t bother me?
