I haven’t done much to the car since May…. Transmission build was a shock to wallet and I’m in the middle of training on the MD-11 so I’m too busy. Today I had a free day and installed this hoist…. I may get a Harbor Freight electric winch later, but for now it’s tied off with a rope cleat….
Got the manual pulley system …. Just Google Top-Hoist and you will find their site. They also sell on EBay…..
I need to lengthen the rear straps to make it more level. The manual system only took me 10 min to install…. Pretty easy
Very cool! In the movie "52 Pick Up" Roy Schieder's (SP?) had a system like that to store the top from his XKE. I thought that was about the coolest thing I'd ever seen!

Ok… so I bought a $209 electric remote control Ceiling hoist for my Hard Top so it can be a one man operation to remove and install. Installed it in about 30 min. Now all I need to do is route the power chord along ceiling to garage door opener outlet. I like it… looks good… works good.. lasts long time
Works great....I became **** and put my pulley directly over the car....I DO have to lower the garage door 1 foot to keep the cable from rubbing the top of the door frame.
My next garage got a Roll-Up door!
the smallest boat trailer winch is more than enough to lift these hard tops. and the 4 gang reduction pulley is way overkill. a 5 year old could lift that top by hand with that setup. if you have to have electric, the smallest lightest one there is is sufficient. now, another thought. maybe the top hoist can do double duty as engine hoist.
Harbor Freight has a $99 electric winch with wired remote that would work great as well …. I just have tall ceilings and went with wireless remote winch from Amazon for $209. 440lb lift capacity
