Upper A Arm Bushing Problem

Default Upper A Arm Bushing Problem

This may seem like a silly question, but how do you get these bushings in?
I have tried pushing, BFH, twisting, grease, Dawn soap, white string etc.
Nothing even seems close to working. !?!?
Plus I just mine today from Paragon (701K) and they seem different from the only clear pic I could find on-line by 4-vettes.(A7199)
Could they have changed? Or are mine just the wrong part? Mine are taller than his. 1.75" vs 1.5"
Could someone measure theirs for me?

White grease and twist while pushing.
If it's being stubborn, I'll also wrap a piece of heavy twine around the slot a couple of turns and put it through the hole in the arm, them when you pull the string down it will unwind and help pull the part into the hole

Grease, twine, push and twist. That was the only way I got mine in. Good luck.

I just installed 2 of these bumpers. Each were from a different vendor both the same height one was dull the other was shinny. The dull rubber seamed softer and with a little lube installed very easy. The other shinny rubber was harder and was very difficult to install. Finally lube it and the used a flat blade screwdriver slowly being carefully not to tear or damage the rubber pushing it working my way around the lower cone and it went in.

STP and ATF. Slippier than cat schit on a linoleum floor….

Murphy’s Oil Soap is pretty skidderish, too.

Yep I think that is my problem. This stuff is hard!
And my bum left hand is not helping, I cannot even make a fist.
And most other Corvette Vendors list a different part #
If some of them are softer, I'm Gonna try a new one!
I almost got it once with a screwdriver, but not quite. There has to be an easier way.
So I strongly do not recommend the 701K Paragon part.
I will try the A7199 part from Zip.
It is shorter anyway.

Try using the string method, wind it around twice or three times, feed one end into the hole, hole the bumper down tight and slowly pull the string that went into the hole straight down. It will un-wind and pulls the lip of the bumper down into the hole as it goes around

Thanks Mooser. I tried. This thing is so hard it barely flexes at all, even at the lip.
And my no-fist left hand isn't helping!
I'll try a softer one.

Yeah it's kind of a three hand job (especially if the coil spring is in LOL)
Does sound way too stiff. I got my last set from rock auto but I can't recall the brand they supplied. They were certainly softer than what yours sound like

I used a 14 gauge piece of wire about 3 ft long, no lube, one wrap around and they went right in.

So I did forget to update this for the solution. I ordered the A7199 from Zip (left) and they went right in! No grease needed even. Just one hand and a half twist. The Paragon 701K were just as hard as a rock and would not flex. Tries many times and as many ways, even cut a slot in it.
Another plus...the new ones are only 1-1/2" tall. The old Paragon ones are 1-3/4" tall. Definately not needed. Restricts suspension travel too much.
