Replace both rear mufflers at once
I have a bad muffler driver's side on my '80 4 spd Vette. Would you recommend replacing both at once? The paint is so bad I don't know if I care too much if it doesn't look 'balanced' or the same even.
Your thoughts on why both is better---or not?

Ed, another thing to consider is BACK PRESSURE.... you want about the same as what you had.
Even though the cat equipped models have a 2 into 1 into 2 system...not going wild with weird mufflers is WISE.

With a proper tune, an 80 L48 4-speed will not care what is after the Y-pipe, only your ears will.

I would also go with replacing both at the same time. They are 41 year old mufflers. If one is bad, then could the other be that far behind? This way you have 2 new ones that you know match, and have the history of replacement time.
