I picked up this 79 L-82 four speed a couple years ago and love it. It was originally delivered in Canada from what I have discovered and has the Kilometer/mph speedometer. I have never seen another Vette in black with green interior. This matches the data plate on my car so I know it wasn’t a green car with a repaint or anything. Anyone else have or have seen this color combo. Just curious if I have a cool odd duck or not.

Your trim tag should show code 19 for paint (black) and 492 for dark green leather interior. Both are factory.

I like it.
Always had a "thing" for odd or rare color combinations. A couple days ago I stumbled across a '68, factory combo was Black on Tobacco. I think it would be very sharp restored to orig. My garage is currently full but I'm still up in the air on buying this one.
Cheers, Greg

I knew a guy a long time ago locally that had a 1969 Riverside Gold with red interior.

I'm planning on painting my 70 with a dark blue. It has a red interior. I think this is a little bit daring, but I can't just decide to go with a black exterior.....too somber. I don't think the chrome C3's show well with light colors. Compared to today's cars, the early C3 interior red colors were really red...nothing subtle.

Certainly you can go with the dark blue/red interior combo. But for me, the colors clash. In the end, I guess it all depends on your personality and what you want to convey to others. If you like bold, sure, use them.
Often though, most color combinations are any exterior color with a neutral interior color.
Good luck with your choice...

492, Dark Green, wasn't a recommended color for black 79s, but could have been special ordered. Very cool and rare (along with the L82 4-speed!)
I don't know if the GM Heritage Center kept records of Canada-delivered Corvettes, but you may be able to get a copy of your dealer invoice from them. Perhaps there is some indication of who ordered it.

ExploreDoes the trim tag on that 1979 have a 29C or 292 code for the interior? The Cloth upper door panel usually goes with a cloth seat. A leather seat usually has a vinyl upper door panel (not cloth).

Now this car is defiantly an odd, rare, low production combo. I kinda like it. What a great buy this car was. If the glass T-tops ( appear non mirrored / aftermarket ) & the turbine wheels are orig oem you would have about $5,000 worth alone in those 2 items ! What a bargain @ $17,000 if I had more room in my garage this would be in it. Only 40,000 miles, part of Lingenfelter's collection, with that completed maintenance list & overall condition. STEAL !!!

Love Silver Green! Those wheels are aftermarket. A more modern interpretation of a classic knock-off wheel in 8" wide. Real nice ride.
